The Civil Construction Manager plans, coordinates, executes, and delivers civil construction activities for electrical substation projects.
The role reports to the Project Manager or Project Director and leads civil works for 132kV, 220kV, 400kV, and distribution substations.
Construction scope and delivery
- Oversee control and GIS buildings, transformer and reactor foundations, equipment plinths, cable trenches, duct banks, oil containment bunds, roads, drainage, earthing facilities, gantry foundations, utility corridors, and related infrastructure.
- Ensure works follow approved drawings, project specifications, contractual requirements, quality standards, and HSE regulations.
- Develop construction methodologies; plan resources; monitor schedules, progress, and risks; review IFC and shop drawings; and control cost and quality.
- Lead multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors, coordinating with QA/QC, HSE, planning, procurement, and electrical construction personnel.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and utility authorities; complete inspections; close NCRs and punch points; and resolve site issues.
- Maintain project documentation, including progress reports and as-built records, and deliver projects safely, on time, and cost-effectively.
Requirements
- Strong leadership and technical expertise in civil construction.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, clients, consultants, and utility authorities.
- Ability to manage construction planning, resources, schedules, progress, risks, quality, costs, and site issues.
- Knowledge of civil works associated with electrical substations, including buildings, foundations, trenches, drainage, roads, and related infrastructure.
- Ability to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, contractual requirements, quality standards, and HSE regulations.
