Work in a professional kitchen preparing and presenting dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes in the assigned kitchen section; complete daily mise en place.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards to maintain consistency.
- Handle, label, and store ingredients using FIFO and food safety procedures.
- Maintain clean workstations, equipment, and storage areas; follow HACCP, hygiene, and kitchen safety procedures.
- Check deliveries for quality and freshness, monitor ingredient use, and minimize food waste.
- Communicate with colleagues and participate in culinary training and tastings.
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of culinary experience; 5-star hotel, luxury resort, or upscale restaurant experience is preferred.
- Culinary diploma, vocational training, or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation, kitchen operations, food hygiene, HACCP, and safe food handling.
- Basic knife skills, familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, and awareness of allergies, dietary needs, and cross-contamination.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions, maintain quality during busy service, and communicate in basic English.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
