The Commis 1 Pastry role prepares baked goods and supports kitchen production and food safety.
Pastry production
- Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
- Review production sheets and prepare food according to recipes, preparation checklists, and quality and presentation standards.
- Use baking and measuring tools and appliances safely.
Food safety and quality
- Maintain food safety program logs and follow food handling and personal hygiene procedures.
- Check food and appliance temperatures, report issues, and monitor food quality and portions throughout the shift.
- Inform the Chef of excess food for planning daily specials.
Team and workplace duties
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, and coaching employees.
- Follow company, safety, security, and quality policies; report unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries.
- Maintain professional appearance, protect confidential information and company assets, and support team relationships.
Preferred qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred.
- At least two years of related work experience is preferred.
- No supervisory experience, license, or certification is listed.
Physical work
- The role involves extended standing or walking, moving over uneven or slippery surfaces, and handling objects up to 25 pounds independently.
Schedule and workplace
- The position is full time and not remote.
- The listed work location is Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
