Job Summary

Roles & Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and regulations and be familiar with fire equipment in the area.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logics, and emergency operation procedures.
• Monitor unit parameters, enter periodic readings on log sheets, and summarize shift activities in the log book.
• Follow instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor and coordinate with other operators.
• Take quick actions during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out during equipment isolation per Permit To Work procedure.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift and report abnormalities.
• Perform periodic protection tests under supervision and perform equipment changeover per schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up on rectification.
• Assist in training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses, implement prescribed risk controls, and report QHSE deviations.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures.

Education and Experience

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Bachelor of Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in the same position.

Required Skills

• Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment Management system principles.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring.
• Knowledge of environmental and health impacts of plant chemicals.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment, PPE, safety equipment, and first aid measures.
• Well conversed with power/water plant operational activities.
• Interpersonal communication and analytical skills.
• Hazard Risk Assessment capability and Aspect Impact Assessment knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.

Desired Certification

• ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness or working knowledge is preferred.
