Associate Engineer – Air Conditioning & Mechanical

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Monitor preventive and reactive maintenance activities across air conditioning, chiller, mechanical, plumbing, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Oversee maintenance by service providers, contractors, and in-house teams against standards and KPIs.
• Conduct site inspections and technical audits; identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Track alarms, maintenance requests, and equipment call-outs through timely resolution.
• Troubleshoot HVAC and chiller equipment, including CRAH, CRAC, and DX units.
• Monitor equipment performance, efficiency, capacity, and asset lifecycle.
• Maintain asset registers, spare capacity records, and maintenance documentation.
• Review operational data, maintenance reports, and KPI performance; prepare routine and special technical reports.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and management to resolve technical issues and limit service disruptions.
• Ensure maintenance quality, safety, and operational procedures meet applicable standards.
• Coordinate spare parts, tools, test equipment, and other maintenance resources.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in engineering services, HVAC maintenance, and Total Facilities Management.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and chiller operation and maintenance, CRAH, CRAC, DX units, HVAC drawings, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electro-mechanical systems, plus brazing and gas welding for air-conditioning work.
• Experience managing maintenance contractors, service providers, and technical teams.
• Strong reporting, operational analysis, and performance monitoring skills.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, manufacturers' manuals, and facilities management procedures.
• Valid UAE driving licence is mandatory.
• IBM Maximo or similar maintenance management software is advantageous.
• OEM training or relevant technical certifications are advantageous.

Compensation

• Salary is up to AED 8,000 per month, all-inclusive.

• The role is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
