Provide management with reasonable assurance that Shari’a risk is mitigated to an acceptable residual level.
Audit and compliance responsibilities
- Follow AAOIFI Standards, CBUAE HSA resolutions, ADIB ISSC resolutions, Institute of Internal Auditors standards, and internal Shari’a audit objectives.
- Support risk-based audit assignments, preliminary surveys, audit planning, policy and procedure reviews, and audit program development.
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and evaluate Shari’a non-compliance risks and related controls, including likelihood, impact, and control effectiveness.
- Assist with finance product risk assessments, sampling, authority letters, team formation, audit testing, evidence review, and findings documentation.
- Compile and summarize HSA and ISSC resolutions, list audit requirements and reports, and complete other assigned duties.
Skills and experience
- University degree in Islamic Shari’a or a relevant specialization.
- Recent graduate or up to two years of experience.
- Arabic and English language skills and IT skills.
- A Shari’a and Islamic Banking Audit professional certificate from an organization such as AAOIFI or CIBAFI is optional.
- An international auditing certification such as CIA Level 1 is preferred.
