Traffic Engineer Manager

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering and road safety work; manage teams, consultants, contractors, and specialist sub-consultants.
• Review and approve traffic impact assessments, traffic studies, transportation assessments, traffic management plans, and road safety studies.
• Review traffic modelling, forecasts, junction analysis, capacity assessments, and network performance.
• Assess road networks, intersections, roundabouts, signalized junctions, pedestrian facilities, and other transportation infrastructure.
• Guide traffic circulation, access, intersection improvements, road capacity, parking, and transportation planning.
• Evaluate construction traffic management and temporary diversions; lead safety assessments, inspections, and audits and recommend improvements.
• Identify traffic and safety risks and develop mitigation measures; coordinate with Dubai authorities, government entities, developers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Review engineering drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, road layouts, junctions, access points, signals, signage, markings, crossings, and cycling facilities.
• Ensure compliance with Dubai and UAE requirements; coordinate traffic needs with road, drainage, utilities, structural, and urban planning disciplines.
• Support planning, design, construction, and implementation; monitor deliverables, quality, schedules, resources, risks, variations, and technical issues.
• Review traffic data, surveys, site investigations, and analysis; recommend ways to improve flow, network efficiency, junction performance, and safety.
• Participate in meetings and design reviews; prepare reports and presentations; resolve authority comments; implement quality controls and mentor engineers.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and at least 12 years of traffic engineering and road safety experience, including at least 5 years in Dubai; OR a Master's degree in Traffic Engineering and Transportation and at least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in Dubai.

Technical experience

• Extensive traffic engineering, transportation planning, traffic operations, and road safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of traffic analysis, junction capacity assessment, traffic modelling, traffic impact assessment, and transportation studies.
• Experience with road safety assessments and audits and identifying safety improvement measures.
• Good understanding of road network planning, intersection design, traffic signals, pedestrian facilities, parking, and access management.
