Role overview

Provides targeted, OEM-certified inspection and testing of high-value or complex systems, including elevators, fire pumps, CRAC units, SCADA, and industrial controls.

Independent reports and certificates assess system performance against Specialist System KRIs and statutory and manufacturer requirements.

Key responsibilities and authority

  • Inspect, test, and check specialist systems against OEM procedures and relevant standards.
  • Report results, deviations, and recommendations; advise on defect severity and impacts on safety, reliability, and service quality.
  • Advise the Hard Service Manager on remedial measures and support root-cause analysis of complex or recurring issues.
  • Independently confirm systems have returned to service after major repairs or modifications.
  • May recommend taking seriously defective systems out of service or restricting operation, subject to FM Manager agreement; may advise on remedial work and retesting.
  • May not approve design changes or long-term asset strategies.

Qualifications and experience

  • Technical qualification in a relevant specialist area, such as elevator engineering, fire-pump systems, or control systems.
  • Current OEM certification or recognised competency.
  • Several years of hands-on experience commissioning, maintaining, or inspecting relevant systems.

Knowledge and personal attributes

  • Deep knowledge of the relevant system or equipment, applicable codes and standards, and OEM test procedures.
  • Able to use specialist test equipment, interpret results, and write concise factual reports suitable as formal evidence.
  • Independent and impartial alongside contractors, with conflicts of interest disclosed.
  • Strong focus on safety, reliability, and compliance; comfortable with call-off work in varying site conditions.

Success measures and working conditions

Success is measured by timely inspections and reports, useful reporting, fewer repeat failures, and feedback from the Independent Supervisor function and FM Manager.

Work involves short, focused site visits, often during shutdowns or outside normal hours.

Job type is full-time and permanent.

Advertised pay is QAR 8,000–9,000 per hour.

Work location is in person.
