Role overview

Electrical maintenance and controls

• Perform routine and preventive electrical maintenance; troubleshoot and repair drives, starters, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
• Read electrical schematics, blueprints, and PLC ladder logic; install, calibrate, and maintain electrical components.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs, make minor PLC programming changes, and work with industrial networked devices and communication protocols.

Safety, refrigeration, and documentation

• Follow LOTO, arc-flash, and NFPA 70E safety requirements, as well as GMP and food safety practices including BRC, halal, and HACCP.
• Support industrial ammonia refrigeration systems electrically under the guidance of licensed refrigeration engineers.
• Record work orders, parts usage, and maintenance activities in the CMMS; work with mechanics and operators to reduce downtime.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.

Required qualifications

• Complete a recognized electrical apprenticeship or hold a technical college degree in industrial electricity.
• Have 7–9 years of industrial electrician or electrical technician experience, including at least 3 years in further processing.
• Have experience troubleshooting 480V three-phase power and 24V DC control circuits, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Be able to interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Be able to work in cold, wet conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and prolonged standing.

Preferred experience

• Further-processing or food-and-beverage plant experience is preferred.
• Ammonia refrigeration and associated electrical controls experience is preferred.
• Packaging machinery experience, including fillers, sealers, vacuum pumps, labellers, inkjet equipment, or X-ray equipment, is preferred.
• CMMS proficiency is preferred.
