Role overview
Deliver simulation and assessment projects with Assystem's Simulation and Assessment team.
Work may be embedded within client teams or delivered from an Assystem office.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and report FEA assessments of nuclear components against design codes such as ASME III or RCC-M.
- Communicate with customer technical leads and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake work packages for major UK and international nuclear clients.
Essential requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent, with strong fundamentals in calculations, structures, mechanics and fluids.
- Hands-on experience with computer-based modelling codes such as Abaqus, ANSYS, Nastran or CFD.
- Appreciation of safety-related code assessments, such as ASME, RCC-M, KTA or comparable codes.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel within the UK.
- BPSS and SC clearance are required; residency criteria may apply to obtaining minimum UK clearance.
Desirable experience
- Similar experience in the nuclear or fusion industry is desirable.
- 3D CAD experience with Inventor, CATIA or SolidWorks is desirable.
- CFD or dynamic modelling experience, including LS-DYNA or Radioss, is desirable.
- Working toward Chartered Engineer status is desirable.

- Able to work independently and collaboratively, use initiative, and operate in multinational environments.
- Focused on quality, milestones, budget, risk and delivery objectives.
Workplace
- The posting states hybrid work with one to two remote days per week.
- The role may involve work at client sites and travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK.
