Role overview

The Engineering department builds and operates ML and software capabilities, including databases, ML solutions, queue systems, and data monitoring tools.

The team works across data engineering, business analytics, ML engineering, and backend engineering to support data and experimentation at scale.

This role focuses on bidding and technically leading data and ML engineering work.

Responsibilities

  • Technically lead improvements to scalability, quality, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of existing data and ML processes.
  • Analyze data to help the business make better decisions.
  • Design, build, and test tools, libraries, pipelines, and platforms for production experimentation.
  • Work with engineers and product owners to automate large-scale data management, analysis, and ML tasks.
  • Own systems that enable production experiments to launch rapidly.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 6+ years in data/ML engineering.
  • Expertise in data pipelines and data quality; SQL, Python 3, and a JVM-based language such as Java or Scala.
  • Expertise in software design, design patterns, best practices, functional programming, and object-oriented programming.
  • Comfort with Python 3, Scala Spark, Hadoop, SQL, and S3; familiarity with ML concepts/models and statistical analysis.
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities and a data-driven engineering mindset.

Preferred experience

  • Good understanding of Hadoop ecosystems, big data architecture, and technologies.
  • Experience with Scala/Scala Spark development, agile work, and test-driven methodologies.
  • Linux systems administration skills.
