Role overview

Senior consulting role representing HPE customer service to customers and bringing customer needs back to HPE.

Work involves post-sales service consulting, technical assessments, network planning, and coordination across customers, partners, account teams, and HPE technical groups.

Workplace

  • The role is designated onsite, with an expectation of primarily working from an HPE office.

Responsibilities

  • Consult on post-sales customer service and coordinate HPE service delivery, including Premium Care, Advanced Care, Optimization Service, and advanced options.
  • Escalate important issues, coordinate services and engineering teams, and engage early on major projects to assess requirements, risks, and expectations.
  • Review service metrics, SLAs, quality, software defects, and deployment risks; help customers develop mitigations.
  • Deliver technical analyses and recommendations covering impact, health checks, upgrades, configuration, and network performance.
  • Review network plans and support feature implementation and product deployment; coordinate issue resolution and product quality improvements.
  • Document and maintain customer network-solution knowledge and educate internal HPE resources.

Networking knowledge

  • Core IP networking knowledge includes TCP/IP, QoS, VLAN, STP, IPsec, NAT, and IPv6; the description encourages deep understanding.
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocol expertise includes VRRP, OSPF, BGP, multicast, and MPLS VPN.
  • Newer technologies listed as a plus include Segment Routing, traffic engineering, DC switching, VXLAN, EVPN, SD-WAN, and wireless.
  • Automation experience or interest is described as valuable.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field; electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or equivalent are generally preferred.
  • Around 8–12 years of experience; 8+ years designing, implementing, and troubleshooting datacenter and IP/MPLS networks.
  • High exposure to network operations and ability to work independently while managing priorities in an unstructured environment.
  • Customer-facing experience is an asset; large-enterprise or network-service-provider experience is advantageous.

Certifications and additional qualifications

  • HPE Juniper, Aruba, or Edge Connect product certifications (JNCIS/JNCIP/JNCIE) or industry equivalents are helpful.
  • An MBA or other business degree is an advantage.
