Accountable for the success of daily kitchen operations, leading staff while personally performing culinary work.
Maintains guest and employee satisfaction, operating budgets, consistent product quality, and food and sanitation standards.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or GED and four years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional area; alternatively, a relevant two-year degree and two years of related experience.
Kitchen operations and culinary standards
- Manage kitchen shifts, estimate production needs, communicate daily requirements, and assist the Executive Chef with operations and preparation.
- Prepare and cook food for regular service and special functions; develop food ideas and presentation displays.
- Maintain purchasing, receiving, storage, equipment, food handling, sanitation, temperature, and applicable legal standards.
- Check raw and cooked food for quality, presentation, and flavor.
Team leadership and guest service
- Supervise cooks and food-preparation workers, lead shifts, schedule to business demand, and maintain employee productivity.
- Coach, train, mentor, and provide performance feedback; support appraisals and escalate issues when needed.
- Maintain guest service standards, obtain feedback, and handle guest problems and complaints.
Goals and coordination
- Work toward performance, budget, and team goals; plan and prioritize work.
- Communicate with colleagues and supervisors, evaluate information to solve problems, and participate in relevant meetings.

- Full-time schedule.
