Sommelier role in the Food & Beverage department at a hospitality company.
Fixed salary of AED 6,400 per month.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 3 years of sommelier experience in a luxury hotel environment in the UAE.
- Sophisticated knowledge of wines, regions, grape varieties, and winemaking techniques.
- Computer literacy, mastery of Word, Excel, and Outlook, and exceptional knowledge of hotel PMS, specifically Opera.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; English fluency is required.
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills; industry-regulation knowledge is beneficial.
- Additional languages are a plus.
Wine service and guest experience
- Recommend wine pairings to complement menu dishes and educate guests and colleagues about wine.
- Prepare mise en place for beverage service and supervise service with attention to detail.
- Collaborate with the culinary team on food and wine pairings for menu updates.
- Coordinate with wine purveyors and regularly update the wine list.
- Inspect opened wine quality across food and beverage concepts and ensure compliance with licensing laws.
Team and operational duties
- Participate in food and beverage meetings, lead special projects, and conduct one-on-one sommelier meetings to set and monitor targets.
- Prepare budgets and monitor sales and cost records.
- Deliver staff training to build wine and beverage knowledge.
- Maintain beverage service equipment and control its use, storage, and cleaning.
- Contribute to customer satisfaction and profitability.
