Experience and technical skills
- Minimum 5–8 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in application resilience, high availability, distributed systems or mission-critical platforms.
- Strong hands-on Java/J2EE and Spring Boot development experience.
- Experience with resilience frameworks such as Resilience4j, Hystrix or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture and microservices design.
- Experience with IBM MQ, Kafka or AMQ messaging technologies.
- Experience with REST APIs and API gateway technologies.
- Knowledge of Oracle Database PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and scripting.
- Understanding of monitoring/observability tools, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools and practices.
Functional skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in high-availability banking or payment systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement retry, circuit-breaker, failover, timeout and graceful-degradation patterns.
- Improve availability, recoverability and fault tolerance across critical payment platforms.
- Analyze production incidents and recurring failures and implement permanent fixes.
- Implement resilience controls for APIs, messaging, databases and external integrations.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, health checks and automated recovery.
- Develop resilience tests, including failover and disaster-recovery scenarios.
- Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, production support and vendor teams.
- Support modernization to improve scalability and operational stability.
- Conduct code reviews and follow secure coding and engineering standards.
- Document designs, implementation approaches and operational procedures.
Deliverables
Deliver resilience improvements and fault-tolerance patterns across critical applications.
Reduce recurring production incidents and single points of failure; improve recovery time and operational resilience.
Produce technical design documents, operational runbooks and support-team handover documentation.
Successfully execute resilience and failover testing scenarios.
Preferred technology stack and tools
- Listed technologies include Java 8/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Resilience4j, Oracle Database, PL/SQL, REST APIs and Kafka/AMQ/IBM MQ.
- Other listed technologies include Kubernetes/OpenShift, Linux, Git and Dynatrace.
- Listed tools/platforms include JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, TFS, SonarQube, Postman, STS, Eclipse, SoapUI, Dynatrace, ServiceNow and IBM MQ Explorer.
