Role overview
Oversee daily operations for Mitie’s FedEx aviation security contract, ensuring safe, secure, and efficient service delivery.
Ensure security activities meet aviation regulations, cargo screening requirements, company policies, and client standards.
Operations and leadership
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs, conduct site audits and compliance checks, and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Plan for peak periods, disruption management, and contingency responses.
- Act as the primary client and stakeholder contact; attend client meetings, operational reviews, and performance forums.
- Prepare performance reports and improvement plans and ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and support client and regulator audits.
- Ensure personnel have required screening competencies, certifications, and clearances.
- Investigate incidents, breaches, and non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Lead teams, conduct performance reviews and employee discussions, and coach supervisors.
- Support employee engagement, retention, development, and succession planning.
Training, security, and safety
- Keep aviation security training records current, monitor mandatory training completion, and coordinate regulatory training.
- Investigate operational incidents and security breaches; prepare reports and recommendations.
- Implement risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report health and safety hazards and promote a strong security and customer service culture.
What they’re looking for
- Previous security management experience and a minimum of five years of UK work history.
- A current SIA licence; CTC clearance is desirable.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance in an aviation setting.
- Strong aviation knowledge covering cargo screening, access control, airside security, regulation, incident response, and security risk.
- Large airport, airline, cargo, or aviation security operations experience is desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, reporting, presentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Operational and commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Competence in Microsoft Office 365 and operational reporting systems.
