Senior Urban Designer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Lead master plans, urban design frameworks, and detailed proposals; manage design packages from concept through implementation.
• Develop public realm, streetscape, open-space, and placemaking strategies; conduct urban analysis, site assessments, land-use studies, and feasibility evaluations.
• Guide reports, drawings, visualizations, presentations, and technical documentation; ensure compliance with regulations, planning policies, client requirements, and best practices.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and lead design reviews, stakeholder consultations, and client presentations.
• Mentor junior designers; monitor implementation during construction and site supervision; evaluate design changes and maintain design integrity.
• Coordinate authority submissions and approvals; support schedules, deliverables, risks, resourcing, business development, proposals, and client relationships as needed.
• Promote sustainable development, smart-city initiatives, walkability, accessibility, and environmental stewardship; comply with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, or Urbanism is preferred; relevant professional membership is advantageous.
• 10–15 years of professional experience in urban design and master planning.
• Experience delivering large-scale mixed-use, residential, commercial, hospitality, and public realm developments; major GCC projects, preferably in Saudi Arabia.
• Strong knowledge of urban design, development planning, and regulatory approvals; strong communication, visualization, reporting, presentation, leadership, stakeholder, and coordination skills.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, GIS, Lumion, Enscape, or similar design tools.
