Role overview
Supports configuration, deployment, ongoing improvement, and support of Field Management software for a Costain and Jacobs joint venture.
The software supports operational data capture, workflow management, and reporting for National Highways Area 14 maintenance and response services.
Reports to the Field Management Software Manager and translates agreed functional requirements into practical technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Configure and customise forms, workflows, formulas, scripts, and templates to match operational processes.
- Roll out the software for new teams or clients, including user provisioning, asset logging, and mobile app setup.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, bugs, device syncing failures, and performance bottlenecks, and help triage support tickets.
- Maintain API connections and data pipelines with external systems such as ERP, CRM, and GPS tools.
- Create documentation, user guides, and training materials for office staff and field operatives.
- Build and manage BI dashboards, KPI trackers, and automated compliance reports.
- Test and manage software updates and new feature releases.
- Help administer user permissions, role-based access, and security protocols.
- Use feedback and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and support performance monitoring and decision-making.
Essential experience and skills
- Experience configuring field management or comparable business software.
- Strong capability in digital form building, workflow configuration, formulas, and conditional logic.
Work location
- The role is home-based with regular travel to Costain offices and project sites.
- The work predominantly supports the North East of England.
Programme context
The joint venture provides maintenance and response services across the Area 14 strategic road network for National Highways.
Services include routine and reactive maintenance, severe weather and incident response, roadside technology maintenance, and traffic management.
The area is expected to expand to include the A69 in 2026 and the A19 and associated trunk roads in 2027.
