Senior Technical Engineer - DataCentre Facilities

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Advise technology teams and lead technical project work packages.
• Design high-quality solutions and architectures aligned with enterprise standards and technical strategy.
• Configure technology monitoring and incident visibility with IT teams.
• Guide solution definition and technical development to agreed requirements, costs, and timelines.
• Resolve incidents, analyse problems, manage changes, and minimise business impact.
• Maintain technical documentation, data catalogues, configuration details, support procedures, operations manuals, and deployment architecture.
• Manage end-of-life equipment and software replacement.
• Translate specifications into programs using enterprise development tools, methods, and languages.

Qualifications and experience

• Degree in Information Technology and at least 5 years of relevant data-centre facilities experience.
• Strong knowledge of critical infrastructure, operations, maintenance, compliance, vendor management, and project management.
• Knowledge of electrical power, cooling, structured cabling, fire and safety, and physical security.
• Knowledge of data-centre systems including UPS, generators, cooling, fire suppression, redundancy, high availability, and Tier classifications.
• Understanding of capacity planning, risk management, preventive and predictive maintenance, incident response, SOPs, MOPs, and monitoring.
• Knowledge of ANSI/TIA-942, relevant ISO standards, local regulations, vendor and contract management, SLAs, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices.
• Mandatory professional certification in data-centre design, operations, or facilities management, such as CDCP, CDCS, CDFOM, CDFOS, Uptime Institute ATD/AOS, or equivalent.
