Senior Software Engineer - Java FullStack - Platform Services

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical design by analyzing application requirements with senior technical engineers.
• Convert solutions for small- to medium-sized initiatives into low-level designs and working code.
• Write secure, optimized code to approved standards; ensure quality and unit testing in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Take part in rotational on-call support and resolve production issues within SLAs.
• Analyze and fix defects, refactor to reduce code debt, and implement logging and monitoring hooks.
• Keep current with relevant technologies and contribute to engineering playbooks and standards.

Qualifications and experience

• Degree or honours (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• At least 3 years of Java full-stack development experience.

Technical experience

• Back end: Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, SOAP, microservices, design patterns, and API-first design.
• Front end: React.js and Angular.js.
• Databases: Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server, Postgres, Couchbase, MongoDB, Elastic Search, and GraphQL.
• Cloud: AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• DevOps and tools: GitLab, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence, Spinnaker, Maven, Gradle, and SonarQube.
• Production support using ITIL, monitoring, self-healing, observability tools, lean software, test-driven development, CI/CD, and code management and testing platforms.
• Exposure to test data management, service virtualization, mocks, and simulators is an added advantage.
