Senior Project Control Engineer

Role overview

Project controls responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate, and forecast status against established baseline schedules.
• Set up baseline budgets for resources, revenue, and costs using an appropriate work breakdown structure.
• Prepare and update weekly and monthly cost tracking reports.
• Establish resource, revenue, and cost projections with project teams.
• Perform variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Use historical data and trends to maintain realistic planning and forecasting assumptions.

Performance and reporting

• Monitor project progress and perform earned value management, including EV, EAC, and ETC calculations and reporting.
• Participate in monthly and quarterly reviews and support explanations of variances and justifications.
• Support the Project Director in reviewing and finalizing the business plan.
• Prepare trackers and logs to monitor cost-related information and issues.

Project coordination

• Customize project control systems to meet specific project requirements.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure costs are properly charged and project cost control has full visibility.
• Develop and maintain schedules for construction and design projects.
• Support billing and collection processes from invoice preparation through stakeholder coordination.

Team support

• Complete performance reviews for direct reports and support personnel development.
• Supervise and mentor project controls engineers when required.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with the position as appropriate.

Requirements

• Experience providing guidance and specialized assistance on complex project control and cost control matters.
• Ability to establish project baselines for schedules, resources, revenue, and costs using an appropriate work breakdown structure.
• Capability to perform earned value management, including EV, EAC, and ETC calculations and reporting.
• Experience developing and maintaining schedules for construction and design projects.
• Ability to supervise and mentor project controls engineers when required.
