Senior Network Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, administer, and support enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and network connectivity.
• Manage LAN, WAN, VLAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and communication protocols; configure BGP, OSPF, and static routing.
• Support firewalls, VPNs, access control lists, and secure network connectivity.
• Monitor availability, performance, bandwidth, and infrastructure health; troubleshoot outages and performance bottlenecks.
• Support configuration changes, firmware upgrades, patching, maintenance, and infrastructure migrations.
• Implement redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery connectivity.
• Collaborate with systems, storage, virtualization, cybersecurity, and IT support teams.
• Maintain network diagrams, documentation, configuration backups, and procedures; support incident, problem, and change management.

Required qualifications

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in network engineering, enterprise networking, network infrastructure, or network administration.
• Hands-on expertise in routing and switching, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or equivalent platforms; knowledge of BGP, OSPF, static routing, STP, trunking, and segmentation.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls, security policies, VPN connectivity, and access control; understanding of DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
• Experience with monitoring, performance optimization, incident troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Understanding of redundancy, high availability, failover, and business continuity.
• Relevant networking certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent; strong communication, documentation, and infrastructure support skills.

Preferred experience

• Professional-level certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent are preferred.
• Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASA/Firepower, Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Data center networking, SD-WAN, wireless networking, network automation, monitoring tools, and large-scale enterprise or managed services experience are preferred.
• Familiarity with ITIL, incident management, change management, and network security best practices is preferred.

Work setup

• Full onsite, five days per week; work location stated as Abu Dhabi or Dubai, UAE.
• Candidates must be based in the UAE.
• Contract duration is 12 months; engagement described as contract/freelance.
