Senior Mobile Engineer - iOS & Android (Real-Time Messaging)

Responsibilities

• Own mobile architecture and the shared real-time core for business, news, and social applications.
• Build connection features including reconnection, message ordering and delivery, read receipts, presence, typing, and live-feed updates.
• Deliver offline-first storage and synchronization on both platforms.
• Implement notifications and calls using iOS APNs, PushKit, and CallKit and Android FCM, WorkManager, and ConnectionService.
• Write native code for platform-specific background tasks, notification extensions, and audio/video where needed.
• Drive performance, stability, and security, including encryption support and secure storage; ship to both stores, run CI/CD, mentor developers, and review code.

Requirements

• Six or more years of mobile development and production apps shipped on both the App Store and Google Play.
• Native iOS Swift and Android Kotlin depth, or senior Flutter, React Native, or Kotlin Multiplatform expertise with hands-on native modules on both platforms.
• Working knowledge of XMPP or an equivalent real-time protocol such as WebSocket or MQTT.
• Strong background in offline-first data, push notifications, and background execution on both platforms.
• Hands-on real-time feature experience is required; instant messaging/chat is strongly preferred, with live feeds, social, or live-update apps also considered.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of Erlang-based messaging servers such as ejabberd or MongooseIM; Erlang coding is not required.
• End-to-end encryption, including the Signal protocol, and WebRTC calls.
• Experience with news or social media apps, Arabic/RTL interfaces, or Flutter.
