SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (SUPERVISION)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Supervise installation of HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, smoke control, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, fuel, compressed-air and associated mechanical systems.
• Review drawings, submittals, approvals, equipment schedules, method statements and Inspection and Test Plans; coordinate interfaces with other disciplines.
• Inspect work, monitor contractors, identify issues, issue observations or NCRs where needed, and verify corrective actions.
• Review designs and calculations for compliance with project requirements, authority regulations, maintainability criteria and international standards.
• Witness inspections, testing, balancing, FAT, SAT, start-up and commissioning activities.
• Review RFIs, submissions, variations and claims; provide technical recommendations to project leadership.
• Monitor schedule progress, verify completed work for payment certification, contribute to project reports and coordinate delivery stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent recognized engineering qualification.
• 10–15 years of mechanical building-services engineering experience, including design review, construction supervision, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of UAE regulations, local authority requirements, ASHRAE, NFPA, CIBSE and SMACNA standards.
• Proficiency in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and cooling-load software such as HAP or IES.
• Sound understanding of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, smoke control and associated building-services systems.

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Airport, aviation or major infrastructure project experience is highly preferred.
• Professional memberships, LEED, Estidama, commissioning certifications or other recognized engineering accreditations are advantageous.
