The role
Provide electrical project and design engineering services, technical advice, field management, and stakeholder coordination.
Support safe, sustainable, and timely project delivery from concept to completion while meeting UAE authority codes, IATA/ICAO aviation standards, and international best practices.
Design and engineering
- Own electrical design from concept through tender-ready documentation using Autodesk Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and AI design platforms.
- Design MV/LV power distribution, generators, UPS, lighting, fire alarms, BMS/SCADA, solar PV grids, and EV charging infrastructure.
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit mapping, voltage-drop assessments, and protection coordination studies with ETAP or equivalent software.
- Design airport electrical systems to IATA ADRM and ICAO Annex standards.
- Ensure compliance with GCC/UAE codes, including DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, and SEC.
- Integrate Estidama and LEED green-building methodologies; coordinate with Quantity Surveyors on BoQs and cost approximations.
Site supervision
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, safety-centric method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Supervise field electrical installations for compliance with safety regulations, engineering codes, and contract clauses.
- Conduct scheduled site checks through Work Inspection Requests and provide technical feedback to improve installation quality.
Experience and education
- Eight to ten years of electrical design experience, including at least three years on BIM-enabled projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Aviation project experience is preferred.
Membership, tools, and standards
- Active UAE Society of Engineers membership and an Abu Dhabi engineering license or explicit eligibility to obtain one are mandatory.
- Power-user capabilities in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and Navisworks, plus cloud collaboration via BIM 360.
- Practical experience with AI-driven electrical design tools and engineering simulation software such as ETAP/Amtech or Dialux.
- Working knowledge of British Standards, NFPA, IEC, and UAE municipal requirements.
