Senior Electrical Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Review design documents, specifications, authority requirements, calculations, drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection plans, and technical proposals.
• Supervise installation of MV/LV systems, substations, transformers, generators, UPS, switchgear, lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection, metering, controls, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct site inspections, verify workmanship, identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and close out defects.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, ICT, security, BMS, fire and life safety, airport systems, utilities, and specialist consultants.
• Witness and review FATs, SATs, functional and protection testing, integrated systems testing, operational trials, reliability demonstrations, and commissioning.
• Resolve site queries, design discrepancies, clashes, interfaces, capacity constraints, protection coordination concerns, and operational requirements.
• Monitor contractor progress, delivery risks and delays; support progress reviews, payment assessments, meetings, quality reporting, and risk management.
• Promote safe execution under project HSE requirements, energization and LOTO procedures, temporary power arrangements, lifting operations, and operational-area controls.

Qualifications and experience

• Minimum 10–15 years of postgraduate electrical engineering experience covering design review, construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and handover of complex projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognized qualification.
• Significant experience in airport, transportation, operational building, or similarly complex infrastructure projects.
• GCC consultancy experience is preferred.

Technical knowledge and tools

• Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, substations, transformers, generators, UPS, switchgear, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, metering, controls, power quality, and systems integration.
• Working knowledge of UAE regulations, IEC, IEEE, BS, NFPA, BS 7671, CIBSE guidelines, and airport industry standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Navisworks, ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, and Relux.
• Experience with collaborative platforms such as ACC/BIM 360 or Asite is cited.

Professional registration

• Current UAE engineering registration or eligibility to obtain relevant professional licenses is preferred.

Work setting

• The role includes construction supervision, regular site inspections, and oversight of installation and commissioning activities.
