The role supports multidisciplinary infrastructure and masterplan design, focusing on district cooling, chilled-water networks, gas distribution, mechanical utilities, and pump station interfaces.

Design and technical analysis

  • Develop designs, calculations, specifications, schedules, reports, and drawings for district cooling, chilled-water, gas distribution, and related utility systems.
  • Deliver concept, feasibility, preliminary, and detailed design for infrastructure and masterplan developments.
  • Support cooling strategy and gas-supply studies, assess options, and design gas farms, pressure regulating stations, pipework, and pump station interfaces.
  • Perform hydraulic modelling and engineering analysis; prepare equipment selections, calculations, technical assessments, and option comparisons.

Codes and project delivery

  • Apply the Saudi Building Code, Saudi authority and Civil Defense requirements, NFPA, IGEM, ASHRAE, and relevant international standards.
  • Prepare authority submissions, resolve technical comments, and coordinate multidisciplinary design delivery.
  • Prepare and review reports, design packages, tender documents, performance specifications, and procurement information.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, and technical queries; attend progress meetings and technical workshops.

Quality, safety, and team support

  • Check calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications under project QA/QC procedures; identify technical risks and mitigation measures.
  • Develop solutions considering safety, sustainability, cost, constructability, maintainability, and whole-life performance.
  • Provide technical updates and guide graduate and junior engineers; contribute to schedules, resource planning, fee estimates, and bids.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and at least 8 years of postgraduate mechanical engineering experience.
  • Demonstrable mechanical infrastructure design experience, particularly in district cooling/chilled-water and gas distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of Saudi codes and authority requirements, Civil Defense, NFPA, IGEM, ASHRAE, and relevant international standards.
  • Experience with hydraulic modelling for chilled-water and gas networks; named tools or comparable software are advantageous.
  • Experience preparing design calculations, reports, specifications, tender documents, and authority packages, and supporting construction-stage reviews.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and effectiveness in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
  • Saudi or wider Middle East infrastructure experience is highly desirable; professional membership or progress toward chartership is desirable.

Flexible work arrangements

  • WSP invites applicants to indicate if working from home, working part-time, or flexible start and finish times would support their needs.

Benefits
