The project and role

A landmark programme will deliver premium buildings and supporting infrastructure for a private estate.

The Senior Design Manager works within the PMC team, driving design excellence across project stages while coordinating consultants and stakeholder expectations.

The role aligns design with programme objectives, budget, quality standards, and delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design management across multiple concurrent building and infrastructure packages.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultants through concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction stages; ensure designs are coordinated, buildable, compliant, and aligned with requirements.
  • Review proposals to optimise quality, functionality, programme, and value; facilitate workshops, technical reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitor deliverables and milestones; manage design risks, issues, interfaces, change control, and scope amendments.
  • Coordinate with project management, commercial, procurement, construction, and client teams; review submissions, specifications, reports, and consultant deliverables.
  • Support procurement technical evaluations and lead and mentor junior design management team members.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, governance requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree qualified in architecture or a related discipline; extensive design management experience in a PMC, consultancy, developer, or client organisation.
  • Experience delivering high-end residential, hospitality, mixed-use, estate, or landmark developments; strong knowledge of multidisciplinary building design and infrastructure interfaces.
  • Experience managing international design consultants and specialist designers; strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead design teams in challenging, fast-paced environments; sound knowledge of design governance, design assurance, and quality management.
  • Major project experience in the Middle East is highly desirable. Professional membership such as RIBA, CIOB, PMI, ICE, IStructE, or equivalent is preferred.

Work arrangements

  • The posting is marked on-site; flexible, part-time, and hybrid options may be discussed if suitable for the role.
