The role combines technical design with team leadership contributions, client engagement, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Design and analysis
- Analyze and design transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Own projects and lead preparation of plans, reports, and specifications.
Client and team coordination
- Work with internal teams and clients to define goals and deliverables and maintain communication through design.
- Attend client meetings, present solutions, and build stakeholder relationships.
- Coordinate with transportation, environmental, and planning teams to integrate structural solutions into broader projects.
- Contribute to strategic planning and business development; mentor colleagues and share knowledge.
Education and experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- A Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis is preferred.
- Requires 5–10 years of Bridge & Structures Engineering experience.
Technical qualifications
- Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is required.
- Proficiency in applicable bridge design software and structural analysis techniques is required.
- Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other structural and civil engineering software is required.
- Project management experience, effective client and team communication, established industry relationships, and proposal support are valued.
