The Senior Accountant / Fixed Asset Accountant joins Gulf Rock Engineering’s UAE head office finance team.
The role manages fixed asset accounting and supports finance operations, reporting, statutory and VAT compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Financial accounting and ERP
- Manage and review accounting transactions and journal entries in iScala ERP.
- Maintain accurate financial records, general ledger integrity, and supporting schedules; review entries and resolve discrepancies.
Fixed asset accounting
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and accurately record acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation.
- Verify and reconcile fixed assets, monitor capital expenditure, and ensure proper capitalization.
- Support fixed asset audits and physical asset verification; follow company fixed asset policies.
Finance operations and closing
- Support accounts payable and receivable processing, review supplier and customer balances, and assist with reconciliations, collections, payments, and discrepancies.
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities and prepare accruals, provisions, depreciation, prepayments, and other adjustments.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate outstanding items, and meet reporting deadlines.
Compliance, treasury, and analysis
- Prepare and support VAT returns and related reconciliations in line with UAE VAT and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide audit schedules, supporting documents, and explanations; support statutory and internal audits.
- Assist with treasury, cash flow monitoring, bank reconciliations, banking transactions, guarantees, facility documents, and liquidity management.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts, perform variance analysis, support management reporting and performance reviews, and provide decision-support information.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Five to seven years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Practical experience in general accounting and fixed asset accounting.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting practices.
- Semi-qualified ACCA, CMA, CPA, CA, or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Strong ERP experience; the role uses iScala.
