Job purpose
Lead strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply of materials, equipment, spare parts, consumables, services, and subcontract requirements.
Support construction, mining, quarrying, heavy equipment, workshop, and corporate operations through cost-effective purchasing, supplier performance, timely execution, and compliant processes.
Sourcing and procurement
- Lead procurement from requisition to purchase order issuance and delivery; develop sourcing strategies and identify cost savings.
- Source and evaluate local and international suppliers; conduct commercial evaluations and prepare management recommendations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions; identify supplier consolidation and long-term agreement opportunities.
Procurement operations and supplier management
- Review purchase requisitions, issue RFQs and purchase orders, monitor lead times, and maintain procurement schedules.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Fleet, Projects, Finance, HR, and Stores.
- Maintain supplier and OEM relationships, assess vendor performance, maintain approved supplier records, and address performance issues.
Categories, expediting, and compliance
- Procure heavy equipment spare parts, workshop consumables, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components, construction materials, fuel, lubricants, tyres, batteries, PPE, facility supplies, services, and subcontracts.
- Monitor critical orders, follow up on shipments, coordinate local deliveries and imports, and resolve supply chain issues.
- Maintain compliant procurement records, prepare procurement and supplier reports and cost-saving analyses, support audits, and uphold ethical supplier dealings.
Team support and improvement
- Guide Buyers and Procurement Officers and participate in process improvement.
- Support ERP implementation, enhancement, procurement digitisation, and the Procurement & Stores Manager's departmental objectives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
