Senior Accountant

About This Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with strong experience in the UAE construction or landscaping sector. The ideal candidate will take ownership of end-to-end accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on project accounting, cost control, compliance, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records

2. Project Accounting & Cost Control (Core Focus)

• Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability
• Manage revenue recognition using the percentage of completion method
• Analyze cost variances and provide actionable insights
• Review subcontractor costs, LPOs, and material consumption
• Support tendering with financial data and cost analysis

3. Receivables, Payables & Cash Flow

• Oversee invoicing, progress billing, and certification processes
• Monitor collections and client payments
• Manage supplier and subcontractor payments
• Assist in cash flow forecasting and working capital management

4. Compliance & VAT (UAE)

• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and timely filing
• Maintain audit-ready financial and VAT documentation
• Enforce internal controls and financial policies

5. Reconciliations & Asset Management

• Perform bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules

6. Audit & Internal Controls

• Coordinate with external auditors during audits
• Strengthen internal controls and mitigate financial risks

7. Payroll & Management Reporting

• Review payroll accounting in coordination with HR
• Prepare MIS and management reports
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making

8. Leadership & Coordination

• Liaise with banks, vendors, and government authorities
• Supervise and mentor junior finance staff
• Identify and implement process improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 10 years of experience, preferably within UAE construction or landscaping
• Strong expertise in project accounting and cost control
• Good knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT regulations
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Excel
• Experience in audits and regulatory compliance
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA)
• Experience with large-scale landscaping or infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with BOQs, subcontracting, and procurement cycles
• UAE driving license (optional)
