Role overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations specific to the construction sector, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, and supporting project-based financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

1. Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.

3. Monitor and manage project costs, budgets, and cost-to-completion reports for construction projects.

4. Process contractor and subcontractor payments, retention releases, and progress billings.

5. Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and assist in VAT return filings.

6. Coordinate with project managers to track project profitability and flag cost variances.

7. Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reconciliations.

8. Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.

9. Assist in cash flow forecasting and financial planning activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry in the UAE.

Strong knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems).

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Familiarity with WPS (Wage Protection System) and payroll processing.

Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is an advantage.

Prior experience with construction project accounting (contract costing, BOQ tracking).

Fluency in English
