L2 engineer role focused on endpoint protection and EDR, including advanced security incidents, security-tool configuration, and complex endpoint threats.
Endpoint protection and EDR
- Investigate high-severity alerts and lead containment actions for advanced security breaches.
- Manage, tune, and maintain enterprise endpoint protection and EDR agents, including TrendMicro DSM, Symantec EPP, and CrowdStrike EDR.
- Design, test, and deploy security policies and exclusion rules, and harden global endpoints.
- Hunt environment telemetry for hidden adversary behavior and indicators of compromise.
- Inspect suspicious files, memory dumps, and scripts to understand attacker methods and build defenses.
- Perform forensic root cause analysis on compromised hosts and prepare post-incident reports.
- Work with tier-4 vendor support to resolve software bugs, driver conflicts, and complex platform issues.
Policy and safe management
- Establish safe structures, retention periods, and permissions.
- Tune Master Policy rules and platform settings.
- Onboard endpoints and enforce EPP and EDR policies to meet compliance posture.
- Ensure security policy enforcement and effectiveness.
Vulnerability management
- Schedule and oversee network and host vulnerability assessments using Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7.
- Analyze scan reports and prioritize remediation based on active threats and business impact.
- Coordinate timely patching of critical vulnerabilities with IT and system administration teams.
- Generate security posture metrics and compliance dashboards for leadership.
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years in IT security operations, including at least 3 years focused on EDR and endpoint security.
- Industry credentials such as CISSP, CEH, GCIH, or vendor-specific EDR certifications are cited as examples.
- Deep understanding of Windows, Linux, and macOS, Active Directory, and cloud environments.
