Job Summary

Roles & Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules and be familiar with fire equipment in the area.
• Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logics, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor unit parameters, record periodic readings and summarize shift events in the log book.
• Follow Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor instructions and coordinate with other operators.
• Take quick actions during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure LOTO during equipment isolation per Permit To Work procedure.
• Inspect unit and auxiliaries during shift and report abnormalities.
• Perform periodic protection tests and equipment changeovers per schedule.
• Raise work requests or defect notes and follow up on rectification.
• Assist in training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report QHSE deviations and ensure proper waste disposal.

Job Specifications

• Diploma in Engineering is a must.
• Bachelor of Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the same position.

Required Skills

• General awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management system principles.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification and disposal.
• Knowledge of emission monitoring.
• Knowledge of environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment, PPE and safety equipment, and first aid measures.
• Well conversed with Power/Water plant operational activities.
• Interpersonal communication and analytical skills.
• Hazard Risk Assessment capability and Aspect Impact Assessment knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Certification

• ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.
