Key responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble salads according to company recipes and standards.
- Wash, clean, peel, cut, chop, and portion vegetables, fruits, herbs, and other ingredients.
- Prepare salad dressings, sauces, and other cold food items as needed.
- Ensure ingredients are fresh, clean, and properly stored; check quality, freshness, and expiry dates before use.
- Follow portion control and presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the preparation area, tools, equipment, and cold kitchen.
- Follow food-safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures.
- Label, date, cover, and store prepared food items properly.
- Rotate stock using FIFO and minimize food waste through proper preparation and portioning.
- Monitor salad ingredients and alert the Chef or Supervisor when stock is low.
- Assist the kitchen team with other food-preparation duties and follow instructions from the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Management.
- Perform other duties related to kitchen operations as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Salad Maker, Cold Kitchen Staff, Commis, or in a similar position is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and salad making.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Good knife-handling and preparation skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization.
