Role Purpose
The Retail Management Specialist supports the operation and development of Museum’s retail outlets, ensuring they deliver a world-class visitor experience and reflect the museum’s identity and mission.
The role focuses on day-to-day retail operations, product management, merchandising, and customer service standards, while also contributing to revenue growth and sustainability.
Retail Operations
- Oversee daily retail operations within the museum shop and temporary pop-up activations.
- Ensure customer service excellence and smooth transaction processes.
- Monitor inventory, stock levels, and procurement processes in collaboration with suppliers.
Merchandising & Product Development
- Support the development of retail product lines inspired by Museum’s collections and brand.
- Ensure effective merchandising displays that enhance storytelling and maximize sales.
- Work with the retail strategy team to evaluate product performance and recommend adjustments.
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Monitor sales performance against targets and contribute ideas for promotional campaigns.
- Support the implementation of cross-selling initiatives with exhibitions, events, and memberships.
- Ensure pricing strategies align with market research and institutional objectives.
Quality & Standards
- Ensure retail operations comply with museum standards, financial procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to shop staff and temporary staff during peak seasons or events.
- Conduct regular audits of stock control and customer service standards.
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Coordinate with F&B and Events teams to align retail offerings with wider museum activities.
- Liaise with suppliers, designers, and local artisans to source products aligned with Museum’s values, including sustainability.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to promote retail experiences through digital and print platforms.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in retail management, preferably within cultural institutions, museums, or high-profile retail environments.
- Proven track record of managing retail operations, merchandising, and customer service.
- Experience with POS systems and retail analytics.
Skills
- Strong organizational and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commercial awareness with ability to balance profitability and visitor experience.
- Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
