General Description
- The Quantity Surveyor / Contract Administrator is responsible for supporting the commercial and contractual administration of industrial services contracts within the oil and gas and related industrial sectors.
- The role focuses on measurement and valuation of works, preparation of payment applications, administration of variations, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination and contract record keeping.
- The position supports the timely recovery of revenue and helps protect the company’s commercial interests throughout the contract lifecycle.
- The role may cover maintenance contracts, shutdowns and turnarounds, brownfield works, mechanical services, scaffolding, insulation, painting, refractory, fabrication, access solutions and other specialist industrial services.
- Support the commercial administration of industrial services, maintenance and shutdown contracts.
- Measure and value completed works using schedules of rates, unit rates, reimbursable mechanisms or lump-sum pricing arrangements.
- Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and supporting documentation.
- Review daily reports, timesheets, work packs, manpower records and equipment usage to ensure accurate valuation.
- Maintain variation registers and assist in preparing, submitting and following up on variation claims.
- Capture and document additional works, scope changes, client instructions, extended durations and emergency works.
- Track labour, equipment, material and subcontractor costs against budget and approved work orders.
- Support monthly commercial reporting, including cost reports, revenue forecasts, margin analysis and risk registers.
- Assist in preparing claims related to additional works, delays, disruption, standby costs and productivity impacts.
- Provide commercial support during shutdowns and turnarounds, ensuring emergent scope and additional resources are properly recorded and submitted for recovery.
- Assist with subcontract administration, including quotation review, payment certification, variation assessment and final account close-out.
- Maintain accurate contract records, correspondence, registers and audit trails.
- Support procurement and tendering activities through commercial evaluations and pricing comparisons.
- Assist in preparing and closing out client and subcontractor final accounts.
Qualifications And Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, contract administration, cost control or commercial support.
- Experience in industrial services, oil and gas, maintenance, shutdowns, mechanical services or related sectors.
- Good understanding of measurement, valuation, payment applications, variations and contract administration.
- Experience working with schedules of rates, unit-rate contracts, reimbursable contracts or lump-sum work packages.
- Strong numerical, analytical and documentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, scopes of work, technical documents and pricing schedules.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills and ability to work with site, operations, subcontractor and client teams.
- Experience in oil and gas services and subcontractor environments is an advantage.
