Role overview

Lead and deliver architectural design scope from initial concept through construction documentation, with periodic design review during construction.

Manage the architectural, exhibition, and content teams, consultants, design quality, client communication, regulatory approvals, schedule, and fees.

Ensure concepts are fully developed, technically sound, compliant, and delivered on schedule and within applicable design fees and contract terms.

Team leadership and design process

  • Lead internal project teams that may include project architects, landscape and exhibition designers, and content curators.
  • Set workflows and milestones for Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents through IFT/IFC packages.
  • Coordinate interior, landscape, lighting, MEP, structural, acoustic, and sustainability consultants.

Client and design coordination

  • Act as the primary client and stakeholder contact and lead design presentations, workshops, and reviews.
  • Translate client aspirations and functional programs into design briefs and strategies.
  • Maintain design integrity from concept sketches through construction drawings.
  • Oversee spatial coordination, building-envelope details, zoning, accessibility, life safety, and fire-code reviews.
  • Coordinate disciplines so structural and MEP systems integrate with architectural design.

Commercial and schedule management

  • Manage subcontracts with support from legal and finance departments and oversee project legal, commercial, financial, cost, and resourcing matters.
  • Develop and maintain the design schedule and track deliverables against milestones for clients, authorities, and contractors.
  • Monitor staffing, workload, hours, project profitability, and fee usage.

Construction-phase support

  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and material samples for design-intent compliance and respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Lead design adaptation and execution feasibility based on a strong execution background.
  • Manage the site supervision team, contractors, and subcontractors; conduct periodic site visits to verify construction against approved designs.

Experience and qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience and experience delivering museography or exhibition design, development, and implementation projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a similar Engineering field from an accredited university.
  • Fluent English; the source states a minimum “C21” level.
  • Extensive experience with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers, and strong aesthetic, space-planning, building-systems, materials, and detailing capabilities.
  • Project-management experience coordinating disciplines, clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, organization, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of local specifications and a strong execution background.

Disciplines and project scope

  • The project may involve scenery, showcases, lighting, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Consultant coordination may cover interior design, landscape architecture, lighting, MEP, structural, acoustic, and sustainability/LEED disciplines.
