The work supports Aecon Nuclear’s EPC, maintenance, and manufacturing services for Ontario nuclear clients, including OPG projects at Pickering and Darlington.

The posting lists Cambridge, Ontario, while the description also says the role is located in Pickering.

Proposal Stage

  • Support engineering-services and engineered-equipment proposals, including preparing specifications and RFQs, estimating costs and engineering hours, and evaluating bids as assigned.
  • Provide engineering risk input, assist with proposal preparation and turnover, and support constructability review.

Design and Project Execution

  • Review customer specifications, reconcile engineering scope, identify risks, and establish DSP requirements and oversight plans.
  • Prepare DSP specifications and support bid review, selection, communication protocols, engineering plans, and schedule oversight.
  • Conduct site walkdowns; review design documents, engineered-equipment specifications, and DSP products; coordinate customer and procurement reviews.
  • Represent engineering at customer reviews, transmit design products, and support constructability, design challenges, and value engineering.
  • Select quality assurance programs for procured items and ensure design products satisfy contract requirements.

Construction, Commissioning, and Closeout

  • Interface with customers and DSPs on engineering issues, issue design revisions, and help resolve difficult design and construction matters.
  • Review change dispositions and construction work packages; support change requests and may lead modifications for OPG contracts.
  • Mentor project coordinators and support red-line drawings and final as-builts.
  • Coordinate commissioning plans, final walkdowns, punch lists, commissioning support, and training.
  • Resolve equipment deficiencies, accept performance tests and commissioning reports, and support final system turnover and closeout documents.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer with ideally 8–10 years of engineering and construction experience on EPC projects.
  • Valid DTL qualification; OPG project experience and detailed knowledge of the ECC process under OP-PROC-PM-0090.
  • Working knowledge of CANDU plant systems, industry codes, OPG standards, relevant CSA N28 standards, Nuclear N299 standards, and quality programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable ASME codes for pressure-boundary work and experience procuring nuclear-class components and systems.
  • Experience working with engineering service providers and construction trades; familiarity with power-plant components and engineering and construction change management.
  • OPG-contract MTL qualification is listed among qualifications; leadership and collaborative teamwork are expected.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $110,000–$150,000 per year. Individual pay depends on factors including work location, education, experience, skills, job conditions, certifications, training, and role scope.
