Opportunity Overview

Aecon is delivering some of Canada's most complex and safety-critical infrastructure projects as part of the nuclear life-extension and refurbishment program.

We are seeking Project Coordinators with strong planning, coordination, and execution experience gained in complex, highly regulated, or technically demanding environments.

This is a unique opportunity to apply transferable skills to major capital infrastructure programs while contributing to work that supports the long-term reliability of Canada's clean-energy supply.

Direct nuclear experience is not required; experienced professionals with strong backgrounds in automotive, manufacturing, or other similarly regulated environments will be supported through structured onboarding and training.

What You'll Do Here

  • Coordinate project schedules, milestones, and deliverables across engineering, construction, quality, safety, and procurement.
  • Track progress, risks, action items, and dependencies; escalate issues as required.
  • Support development and maintenance of work packages, plans, and execution documentation.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, including material readiness, tracking, and documentation.
  • Prepare project reports, dashboards, meeting minutes, and presentations for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Support field execution activities, including readiness, shift reporting, and close-out documentation.
  • Assist with project controls, cost tracking, and change management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience That Transfer Well to Nuclear

  • Program or project coordination supporting engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with structured schedules, milestones, and change control.
  • Managing documentation, configuration, and compliance in regulated environments.
  • Reporting project performance, risks, and KPIs to senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinating multi-trade or multidiscipline project scopes.
  • Supporting CAPEX projects, plant upgrades, shutdowns, or complex installations.
  • Managing schedules, materials, vendors, and deliverables in safety-critical environments.
  • Working within formal quality, safety, and procedural frameworks.

What You Bring To The Table

  • 3-5+ years of experience supporting technically complex projects, processes, or programs, including schedule integration, document control and records management, reporting, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing or similarly regulated / safety-critical environments.
  • Process-driven with strong organization and prioritization skills, with experience navigating multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using project scheduling, tracking using commercial or in-house project management systems, or enterprise project control systems is an asset; ability to quickly learn new tools and systems as required.
  • Postsecondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Business, or other technical related fields).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance for work on nuclear projects.

Attributes for Success in Nuclear

  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Comfortable working within structured processes, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt within a highly regulated nuclear environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Compensation

  • The expected pay range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 CAD per year.

Why Aecon

  • Exposure to large-scale, long-term nuclear infrastructure projects.
  • Structured onboarding and support for professionals transitioning into nuclear.
  • Mentorship, growth, and development opportunities.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and disciplined project execution.
  • Opportunities for long-term growth within Aecon's nuclear portfolio.
