We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced **Prepress Operator** to join our Commercial & Packaging division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing digital artwork for offset, digital, and flexographic printing, ensuring accuracy, color consistency, and production readiness.
This role plays a critical link between design and print production, supporting high-quality output while meeting cost and timeline objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepress & File Preparation
- Receive and review incoming artwork files (PDF, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and native formats)
- Verify job specifications including substrate, press type, ink set, coatings, finishes, dielines, and deadlines
- Conduct detailed file inspections for printability (dimensions, fonts, resolution, color modes, bleed, and margins)
Preflight & File Optimization
- Perform automated and manual preflight checks
- Generate preflight reports and communicate required corrections to designers or clients
- Convert files into standardized print formats (PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-4)
- Resolve transparency and technical file issues
Color Management
- Apply and manage ICC color profiles for different substrates and press conditions
- Convert color spaces (RGB to CMYK, spot color handling)
- Maintain consistent color reproduction across devices
Ink & Special Effects Handling
- Manage Pantone and special colors
- Prepare separations for varnishes, UV coatings, metallic inks, and white layers (packaging)
Print Accuracy & Imposition
- Ensure correct trapping, overprinting, and knockout settings
- Add registration marks to maintain alignment
- Create impositions for:
- Offset (sheetfed and web)
- Digital printing
- Flexographic printing
- Optimize layouts to reduce waste and improve substrate utilization
Proofing & Production Support
- Produce digital, color, and press-ready proofs
- Verify content accuracy and color compliance
- Support press approvals and coordinate with production teams
Requirements
- Proven experience in a prepress role (commercial print or packaging environment)
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Familiarity with preflight tools and RIP workflows
- Solid understanding of printing processes: offset, digital, and flexo
- Expertise in color management and ICC profiling
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and meet tight deadlines
- Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per hour
Education
- Diploma (Required)
Experience
- Commercial and Packaging printing: 3 years (Required)
