Planning & Cost Control Engineer – Façade, Aluminum & Steel / Metal Works

Role overview

Planning and scheduling

• Develop and update schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent planning software.
• Prepare baseline and execution schedules, manpower and material plans, and procurement schedules.
• Set activities, sequences, durations, dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
• Monitor planned and actual progress, delays, critical activities, and schedule risks.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and recovery programs.
• Coordinate with project, site, production, procurement, estimation, and QS teams.
• Monitor site and factory activities against approved programs and identify corrective action.

Cost control and performance

• Monitor costs against budgets and identify variances and potential overruns.
• Track material, manpower, subcontractor, equipment, logistics, and other project costs.
• Prepare cost forecasts, cash-flow projections, cost-to-complete reports, and performance reports.
• Monitor commitments, actual expenditure, accruals, forecasts, and final cost projections.
• Analyze productivity and resource use to identify inefficiencies and cost-optimization opportunities.
• Review quantities, BOQs, budgets, variations, and additional works from planning and cost-control perspectives.
• Support project, QS, and commercial teams with variations, claims, back charges, and schedule and financial impacts.
• Coordinate material requirements, delivery schedules, and related project costs with procurement and production.
• Analyze PV, EV, AC, CPI, SPI, and other relevant KPIs.
• Report project status, cost position, risks, delays, and corrective actions to management.
• Maintain records of budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, variations, and cost-to-complete.

Project close-out

• Review final costs, outstanding commitments, variations, and project financial performance.
• Prepare final cost analysis and lessons-learned reports.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of relevant construction planning and cost-control experience.
• Façade, aluminum, architectural metal, steel, glazing, or similar construction experience is highly preferred.
• Practical knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project is required.

Required capabilities

• Understanding of planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and progress measurement.
• Experience preparing weekly and monthly planning and cost-control reports.
• Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, productivity, resource planning, and project execution.
• Ability to analyze project data for delays, cost deviations, productivity issues, and project risks.
• Strong MS Excel skills for reporting, data analysis, and cost tracking; good knowledge of Earned Value Management and project KPIs.
• Communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
• UAE construction experience and a UAE driving license are preferred.
