Planning & Cost Control Engineer – Façade, Aluminum & Steel / Metal Works

Role overview

Project planning and scheduling

• Develop, maintain, and update detailed schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent software.
• Prepare baseline programs, execution schedules, manpower plans, material schedules, and procurement schedules.
• Establish activities, sequences, durations, dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
• Monitor planned versus actual progress; identify delays, critical activities, and schedule risks.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, look-ahead schedules, recovery programs, and management reports.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, production, procurement, estimation, quantity surveying, and other departments.
• Monitor site and factory activities against approved programs and recommend corrective actions.

Cost control and performance monitoring

• Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify variances, risks, and potential overruns.
• Track material, manpower, subcontractor, equipment, logistics, and other project-related costs.
• Prepare cost forecasts, cash-flow projections, cost-to-complete reports, and financial performance reports.
• Monitor commitments, actual expenditure, accruals, forecasts, and final cost projections.
• Analyze productivity and resource utilization to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
• Review BOQs, quantities, budgets, variations, and additional works from planning and cost-control perspectives.
• Support project managers, quantity surveyors, and commercial teams with variations, claims, back charges, and schedule and financial impacts.
• Coordinate with procurement and production on material requirements, delivery schedules, and project costs.
• Analyze performance using Planned Value, Earned Value, Actual Cost, CPI, SPI, and other KPIs.
• Report project status, costs, delays, risks, forecasts, and corrective actions; maintain budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, variations, and cost-to-complete records.

Project close-out

• Review final costs, outstanding commitments, variations, and overall project financial performance.
• Prepare final cost analysis and lessons-learned reports.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in construction planning and cost control.
• Experience in façade, aluminum, architectural metal, steel, glazing, or similar construction works is highly preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
• Understanding of planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and progress measurement.
• Experience preparing weekly and monthly planning and cost-control reports.
• Knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, productivity, and resource planning.
• Ability to analyze schedule delays, cost deviations, productivity issues, and project risks.
• Strong MS Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and cost tracking.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management and construction project KPIs.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• UAE construction experience and a UAE driving license are preferred.

Pay

• AED 8,000–13,000 per month.
