Role Description

The Operation Theatre Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining operating rooms and equipment to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures.

This full-time, on-site role in Dubai includes sterilizing instruments, setting up surgical trays, arranging equipment and supplies, and assisting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures.

The technician supports surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses by anticipating needs, maintaining aseptic technique, and adhering to infection control and safety protocols.

Daily tasks include checking and calibrating equipment, maintaining inventory of consumables, documenting usage, and reporting any equipment issues or hazards.

The role also involves assisting with patient positioning and transfer, handling specimens according to guidelines, and collaborating closely with clinical staff to support smooth theatre operations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong technical skills relevant to operating theatre environments, including the ability to manage equipment and technical production aspects of surgical procedures.
  • Candidates should possess an understanding of lighting and visualization in clinical settings to support optimal visibility and safety during surgery.
  • Candidates should possess excellent customer service skills, with a focus on patient-centered care, empathy, and professional communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Candidates should possess an appreciation for performing arts–like preparation and timing, including focus, discipline, and coordination when working as part of a surgical team.
  • Diploma or certification in Operation Theatre Technology or an equivalent allied health field from a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience working in an operating theatre or surgical environment, preferably in cosmetic or surgical specialties.
  • Thorough knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control standards, and operating room safety protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, manage time in a fast-paced environment, and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems used for hospital documentation; effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • **Must have DHA License**
