Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Operation Theatre (OT) Technician role based in Dubai.
The OT Technician supports surgeons and nursing staff by preparing operating rooms, ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, sterilized, and functioning properly.
Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning and preparation, maintaining aseptic techniques, handling instruments during procedures, and monitoring equipment such as lights, suction, and monitoring systems.
The role also involves post-operative tasks such as safe instrument handling, waste segregation, re-stocking supplies, and preparing the theatre for subsequent surgeries.
The OT Technician collaborates closely with the surgical team, follows hospital protocols and safety standards, and contributes to efficient operating room workflow and a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
- Technical skills in operating theatre preparation and support, including handling of surgical equipment, instruments, and sterilization processes; familiarity with technical production aspects such as equipment setup and troubleshooting.
- Ability to manage and adjust operating theatre lighting and other environmental controls to meet clinical and procedural requirements.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient care, empathy, clear communication, and professional interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfort working in a performance-like, high-focus environment where timing, coordination, and teamwork are critical, similar to performing arts disciplines.
- Recognized OT Technician diploma or equivalent healthcare qualification, with current registration or eligibility as per UAE regulations.
- Previous experience as an OT Technician or similar perioperative role, preferably in cosmetic, plastic, or surgical settings.
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile techniques, patient safety standards, and operating room protocols.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required by the surgical schedule.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage.
