MTU Technician

Job purpose

Maintenance and repair

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in line with MTU recommendations and maintenance schedules.
• Inspect, adjust, change fluids, lubricate, and replace wear components such as filters, gaskets, belts, and seals.
• Diagnose abnormalities, identify wear or potential failures, and recommend corrective actions or additional work.
• Repair engines, replace components, and perform overhauls according to approved procedures.
• Reset maintenance systems and service counters with approved diagnostic tools.
• Clean and preserve customer equipment following maintenance or repair.
• Perform routine repairs independently and support major repairs and overhauls under senior technicians when required.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, assembly, and replacement of engine systems and major components.

Technical support and reporting

• Use diagnostic software and manufacturer-approved tools such as Vodia and DiaSys; interpret fault codes, maintenance data, and onboard diagnostic information.
• Prepare repair reports, failure-analysis reports, technical service documentation, and maintenance records.
• Identify required spare parts and prepare detailed parts lists.
• Maintain accurate work records and support warranty and service documentation.

Quality, safety, and teamwork

• Meet MTU manufacturer standards, company quality requirements, and established procedures and quality controls.
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment in safe, serviceable condition; report defects and keep a clean, organized, safe work area.
• Follow company HSE policies, procedures, and safety regulations; support continuous improvement in service quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Represent the company professionally, support customers and stakeholders, collaborate with colleagues and technical specialists, and share technical knowledge when needed.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is essential; a Mechatronics qualification is preferred.
• Five to ten years of diesel engine maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair experience; MTU or similar high-speed diesel engine experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of engine systems and components including Common Rail, PLD, fuel, lubrication, cooling, and electronic control systems.
• Ability to independently carry out maintenance, repairs, inspections, adjustments, and assembly under manufacturer procedures.
• Proficiency with diagnostic and service tools such as Vodia, DiaSys, and other manufacturer-approved systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance schedules, fault codes, and workshop documentation.
• Experience in fault identification, root cause analysis, and corrective-action recommendations.
• Understanding of workshop information systems, maintenance processes, and service reporting.
• Customer-service orientation and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic is advantageous.
