Job purpose
Design and engineer complex Fire & Gas systems for diesel generator set installation projects and provide technical support to in-house engineering activities.
Coordinate between project teams and support functions to support aligned project execution.
Technical responsibilities
- Review detector coverage on P&IDs and layouts; coordinate with vendors and EPC teams; and update cause and effect matrices.
- Conduct site inspections and review hazardous area classifications.
- Support shutdown and emergency system integration.
- Review vendor documents and technical submittals; support commissioning, FAT, SAT, and system testing.
- Troubleshoot F&G system issues during operations or maintenance and prepare engineering documentation and reports.
Quality and engineering responsibilities
- Ensure construction quality meets specifications, conduct inspections and snagging, and support testing and commissioning.
- Maintain engineering records and documentation.
- Attend technical and coordination meetings, respond to RFIs, monitor F&G works progress, and review contractor submissions and method statements.
Commercial responsibilities
- Support quantity estimation for structural materials and assist with value engineering exercises.
- Review variation impacts on structural scope and help evaluate contractor claims related to structural works.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a core engineering discipline; an electrical and instrumentation background is considered favourable.
- Five to eight years of F&G engineering experience; industrial or oil and gas sector experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Fire & Gas Detection Systems and knowledge of hazardous area designs.
