Marine Application Engineer

Job purpose

Core responsibilities

• Apply power-generation system design and engineering to develop solutions; analyze customer needs and technical problems and recommend solutions.
• Conduct site visits and research suitable components based on application, operating profile, conditions, and customer or consultant specifications.
• Use simulation and sensitivity analysis to select solutions that meet required performance.
• Support sales with technical marketing information and present technical features to customers, consultants, and end users.
• Design and configure power-generation subsystems, automation systems, and components, including LV/MV switchgear, control panels, ventilation, and fuel systems.
• Configure system integration, specify supplier requirements, and verify supplier proposals against project and tender requirements.
• Develop operating philosophies, prepare technical submittals, and follow up technical approvals.
• Prepare final supplier bills of materials and hand over project technical requirements to the project-process engineer after order receipt.
• Develop standard designs, detailed bills of quantities, costing, cost roadmaps, and optimization plans.
• Create commercial-evaluation templates covering CAPEX, OPEX, and cash-flow estimates for project financing.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
• 5–8 years of proven experience with marine propulsion systems, including diesel engines, gearboxes, and propulsion systems, and with ship design.
• Excellent knowledge of marine automation systems and propulsion controls.

• Strong communication abilities, mathematical skills, and ability to facilitate teamwork across departments.
• Established industry network, particularly with consultants and end users.
• Perfect command of written and spoken English.
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD, and 3D modelling software.
