Education and experience
- High school diploma or GED and four years of experience in food and beverage, kitchen, or a related specialty; alternatively, a two-year degree in a relevant hospitality, food-service, or business field and two years of relevant experience.
Operations and team leadership
- Oversee daily operations and staffing; maintain service and sanitation standards across restaurant, bar/lounge, and room-service areas.
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop staff; set goals and performance standards and maintain productivity.
- Train and monitor staff for compliance with policies, procedures, applicable laws, food handling, hygiene, and alcohol-service requirements.
- Manage departmental financial matters, including purchasing and invoice payments.
Guest service and people management
- Maintain service quality, handle guest complaints, gather feedback, and take corrective action to improve satisfaction and retention.
- Manage service delivery from guest arrival through departure, including greetings, order handling, food delivery, special requests, and payment.
- Guide staff, provide training, support fair treatment and retention, gather employee feedback, and recognize contributions.
- Assist servers and hosts during meals and peak periods, including cleaning the floor; supervise shifts when the assistant restaurant manager is absent.
